Sounding In My Ears

You are the path, Lord

the reason why I can breathe.

Always watching and guiding

I knew You were always with me.

Yet, struggles surround

and I don’t know what to do.

I’m afraid, through the lightning

my ground is broken.

What do I do?

I see the sky above.

Lord, help me see Your love.

All around me,

Lord, surrounding.

Even when times are hard.

Lord, God, You hold my heart.

You are my Rain.

You never leave me.

I feel like a child

fighting, I scream, “Do You see me?”

Lord, it hurts, and the beating

of my heart is sounding in my ears.

The whispers beckon biting,

they point and they laugh.

They don’t think You’re with me.

They say I’m nothing and done.

But I hear Your roar, Lord.

And You tell me,

as the whispers flee,

“Focus on My Son.”

I see the sky above.

Lord, help me see Your love.

All around me,

Lord, surrounding.

Even when times are hard.

Lord, God, You hold my heart.

You are my Rain.

You never leave me.

(NIV) Isaiah 25:04, “You have been a refuge for the poor, a refuge for the needy in their distress, a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat. For the breath of the ruthless is like a storm driving against a wall.”

(NKJV) Psalm 41:07, “All who hate me whisper together against me; against me they devise my hurt.”

(NIV) Psalm 121:05, “The LORD watches over you– the LORD is your shade at your right hand.”

This poem was inspired by listening to the song In The Potter’s Hands By Casting Crowns.
