Writing, Blogging, Crocheting, Gardening | What I’ve Been Up To

Since taking a break in March, quite a few things have happened.

I’ve reached Ch. 18 of my book.

The book is still going! I’ve shared on my other blog how I’ve been struggling to find a balance. Post | My Book Is Still A Work In Progress

I’m excited because it’s reaching a point where my main character is able to meet up with some other characters that are CRUCIAL for the story to continue. I think once I reach this point, hopefully, the story will become easier to write.

I’ve started gardening.

I tried to garden last year and there were a few problems. What I planted grew, but I was extremely new to gardening, still am. This year, I am attempting to grow some vegetables in containers. It’s quite an adventure, and there are already problems. I’m considering blogging about my adventures. (Left To Right, Bunching Onions, Cucumber, Lavender and Chamomile).

I’m almost up to 2,000 followers on my main blog.

Last year, I reached 1,000 followers on my main blog, which was incredible. This year I think it would be awesome to reach 2,000.

I’ve been learning a lot about blogging, especially things I had to work on from last year. Mindset. When to not engage comments. When to NOT read posts because they would make me emotional. How to not focus on stats. A lot.

I’ve been trying out some new recipes.

Just this past weekend I made homemade matzoh, the bread the Jewish people made when they left Egypt. It was very sticky, and a little bit of a learning process. But I LOVED IT!

It’s like a cracker, airy and crisp. There is not much of a taste because the only two ingredients are water and flour! But I ate it with cream cheese and honey (like milk and honey…get it?)

I’m halfway through my granny square blanket project.

This blanket is not an easy task, and I do not crochet every day. I don’t know if I will finish it by the end of the year, but still, it’s halfway done. I reached the halfway point in April. This time around for the new squares I’m adding, they are a lot bigger, so I need less to make.

Secret Projects-

This is more for my main blog, but I’ve been working on some behind the scene stuff. It’s not really ready for me to talk about because I don’t know how far along I’ll get. Thus “secret” but more like “in the process of figuring out” xD.

Yeah, it’s been a busy couple of months. I share this because as you can see, all of these things I do at home. You do not have to leave the house to go out and do stuff.

  1. Hey!! This is so exciting! I have looked into the idea of gardening but I am in a situation where it may not be a logical decision at the moment. It is exciting to see that you are getting into gardening again and I love the idea of you posting about it! Baking sounds great! What is better than getting to eat and, possibly, share your food with others! I haven’t baked in a short while but I do love it! I have been meal prepping, however! Lastly, the blanket looks amazing, emphasizing your talent and patience, which is a virtue 😉

I have enjoyed time off school by working, watching some t.v., spending time at the beach, trying to get more involved in the blogging community again, and, lastly, prepping for my summer class…and the list goes on!

I hope to see more posts like this! I love hearing about you and your adventures!

    1. Oh, your comment is so encouraging! I would love to share more. We live on the second floor so I do have a balcony but it has presented some issues with sunlight and then if I have them on the balcony we will get a michevuous chipmunk, last year at least, lol. I’ve kept my plants in the living room. They are growing, but slowly. Some better than others xD Some, like my green beans, not at all!

I love what you are doing to keep yourself busy!!! Wow, sounds like you, too, are going to have a busy summer!

Aw, thanks so much for your kind compliments! ❤ Baking is so fun to share with others! Meal prepping is awesome!!! I love watching videos on YouTube about it. Yeah, the blanket has been real fun! Crochet the granny squares and then hand sew the pieces together. 😊

      1. You’re so very welcome! That is so exciting. It seems like you are making progress with the garden!

Yes, I can’t seem to not be busy. lol I haven’t decided if this is a good or bad thing.

The blanket is coming together very nicely! Blessings! Xoxo

    1. That would certainly be an option I look into. 😊

I’ve been working on some posts for this blog, and making sure I lessen the burden of pressure. Going back to some of the original roots I had with this blog. ❤

  2. I like the colors in your blanket, especial the blue and the bits of pink and red!
My garden has gotten away from me this year, again. Every year something happens that I can’t say no to. Like, how can you say to your out-of-town guests, I can’t spend time with you because I have to pull weeds. I fully enjoyed my yeses! So, now we are doing the hard work of trying to get the weeds out before they drop seeds.

    1. Priorities and you’re right, people tend to go above a lot of things ❤ Hope your weed pulling goes smoothly!!! Thanks! I wanted to make squares that represented holidays or seasons. (And then other colors inbetween) 🙂
