I Sit Here By The Window

I sit here by the window.

Watching the snowflakes float down.

Some fierce, some peaceful.

Others shaped wonky or round.

I sit here by the window

And hear the chatter of neighbors.

Screams as children dodge the flurries.

Laughter as a young pup shakes and shivers.

I sit here by the window.

Surrounded by a peace.

Warmth from the oven fills the room.

As daylight begins to cease.

I sit here by the window

And can’t help but look back.

Last year I feared the window

And the strength I was to lack.

I sit here by the window.

Renewed in Christ’s wing.

His shelter was always over me.

Tonight, to Him, I sing.
