5 Ways To Read More | Feeling Fine Friday

There are a number of you brilliant bloggers and readers of posts, who enjoy reading books.

Reading helps our vocabulary, our writing, our creativity, and can help us destress.

I thought today it would be fun to think of ways that may help those of us who want to work on reading more. 🙂

1. Limit Your Electronics

I’ve found when the power goes out I get a lot more done, and reading is something I turn to. Limiting computer time, t.v. time, and smartphone time all help open up time frames that can be used for other things.

 

2. Circulate Your Books

Bookstores, libraries, and rearranging your bookshelf are all ways to make sure you are finding new material to read.

3. Book Club or Book Buddy

When you have other people who can share in reading the same book as you, it can help you stay committed, especially if your problem isn’t with the book, but managing your time.

4. Pick Favorites You’ve Read Before

Not all readers enjoy reading something more than once, but I happen to love rereading books. It’s a comfort because I already know I love the story, and the characters are familiar to me.

This is also a good way to see what you like about the book, the writing, and characters, especially if you are a writer.

It may also encourage you to find new books by the author.

5. Bring A Book With You

I had a friend who had two different books she carried in her purse, it was a nice sized purse. Make sure that you are able to read wherever you are. This comes in handy when you are delayed when out in public.

  1. Great tips! I love to read! I also love rereading my favorites! Like you said, some people don’t like to reread but I find something new almost each time I reread a book. 🙂

  2. These are great tips! Limiting devices is definitely something I need to work on. Like you mentioned with when the power goes out, I always feel like I get a lot more done. As for reading, I have really gotten into it this past year. I used to never read and now I think it’s strange if I go a day without picking up a book.

  3. I REALLY wish I could get into reading, I would love to just curl up under the covers and read a good book…but I just can’t. I’m always bored and find myself dreaming of any and everything except the words on the page. lol.
